The Farmer Goes to New York City

Tradução Disponível

The guy lived his whole life in the middle of nowhere in a pig farm. He didn't know about escalators, he had never been in a plane before, he didn't know anything about the high technology world -- but he had heard about its wonders from his old battery operated radio. Actually, he had heard so much about it that he decided to go to New York just to see what that was all about. He was at the first floor of the Empire States Building when he saw the elevator door for the first time in his life. His son, 10, was just as ignorant as his father.

"Dad, what does such a big box do?", asked the boy.

"I don't know, son", answered the farmer. "Let's hang out here and find out."

And so they stood there, watching the elevator. An old lady, in a wheelchair, enters the elevator. She has an old smelly dog with her.

The farmer and his son saw when she hits a button inside the elevator and the door shut by itself in front of them. They were amazed as they observed the numbers lit one by one, from 1 to 129. Then, it stopped. Nothing happened for a few minutes, until the numbers started flashing again, this time in reverse order. When it hit number "1", the elevator door opened again and, to the amazement of the farmer and his son, instead of the old lady now the box had a beautiful young blonde wearing rollerblades and carrying a cute puppie in her arms.

The farmer can't believe his eyes. "What an amazing thing it is this Technological World", he thinks to himself.
Without hesitation, he taps on his son's shoulder and says:
"Son, go get your mother right away."
